Half apron for the bride-to-be

I made an apron!  And I absolutely LOVE it!

While I loved all of the wonderful gifts I received at my bridal shower I’ll never forget how excited I was when I saw the handmade reversible half-apron from one of my husband’s friends.  Not only did I adore the design but it also meant so much that this wonderful friend took the time to design and sew something for me!  Here are some pictures of the apron (and my wonderful husband modeling it for the crowd!).

Six years later that apron is still my favorite!

I always try to make handmade gifts for friends and family for special occasions and one of my favorite to make for brides-to-be are aprons.  My hope is that they experience that same feeling that I did when I opened my gift.

My best friend from back home (who was my maid-of-honor) is getting married in May and her bridal shower was this past weekend.  I knew I wanted to make her something, so I designed a reversible apron that (I hope!) suits her modern style.

I used three different fabrics from the Camelot Fabrics (Oh-So-Coco in navy, Mod Weave in pink and Nouveau Knit in navy) which I purchased at our local fabric store, Five Eighth Seams.  Reversible half apron made with Camelot Fabrics Iconic Collection prints | Hemming Birds CreateThis was my first experience with Camelot fabrics and I was super pleased with it.  The colors were wonderful and the fabric is a very high quality – sturdy, but soft.

I designed the pattern myself based on a vintage apron I found at an antique store in Charleston.  I’m working on a tutorial now with some interesting pocket variations, so stay tuned for that!

I LOVE the apron that you made for my bridal shower! It’s not the half-apron, but a full one. Which was perfect for me, because I am a HUGE mess in the kitchen!
